BLUEWATER 10K 14/06/09

Bluewater is a large shopping centre on the fringes of South East London just beyond the M25. Richard and I travel down for an early morning race before the shops are open. The centre is set down in a old chalk quarry so the first section is a climb up and out onto the local lanes. It's an undulating course with the finish along the top edge of the quarry. We have a good old battle and Richard is about ten metres ahead coming down the final straight. I think I can avenge Larkfield by coming past him in the final metres. Just as I am closing to his shoulder he gets a warning shout from the crowd. I don't know why they are on his side! He puts in a final burst and just beats me to the line. Chip time is 46.23 which is decent enough on a hilly course.
